Whistler Overview
 |
|
Whistler is regarded as one of the best ski resorts in North America. Boasting over 7,000 acres of ski-able terrain, it is the premier summer and winter destination in British Columbia.
Because of the popularity of the resort and the impending 2010 Winter Olympics, real estate prices in Whistler have increased in value steadily over the last 20 years. |

Whistler Owner Locations
The following section shows the breakdown of ownership information for properties in Whistler. For each property in the Whistler area, Landcor has the address of the owner of that property.
This section highlights
Landcor's ability to map out the geographical distribution of all property owners. Landcor determines whether the property is owner occupied or not by comparing the
owners address we have on file to the property address. Where those addresses do not match, this study considers the owner not to live in that property.
For instance, for a given property in Whistler, Landcor can identify that the owner's address is 1234 1st Street in Houston, Texas. With this information, we can map out the geographical distribution of owners.
The following maps outline in some detail where property owners in Whistler are located. The maps are generated based on the owners who have been identified as not living in their Whistler property.

Whistler - Average Assessed Value for All Property Types
Whistler was the long time darling of recreational property for the
Lower Mainland, but with very high prices in the Whistler market,
many investors have started to look for an alternative location.
While real estate prices remain high in Whistler, the rate of growth
has slowed dramatically, and in fact reversed. Assessed value across
the entire province increased an average of approximately 14%,
whereas Whistler’s average assessed value actually went down.
Whistler’s growth rate is markedly less than the provincial average.

The key thing to take from this is that demand for Whistler properties is leveling off as people look for, and find, other areas that offer a similar quality lifestyle for much less money.
Whistler is no longer the only
"destination resort" in BC.
