Thousands of lakes and salmon spawning rivers provide abundant food and water supplies to the region, and many fishermen make their way to rivers like the Babine and the Nass to try their luck against the thousands of fish hurrying to the spawning areas of the Pacific Ocean each year.

History abounds in this area. From the First Nations peoples who have called this area their home from time immemorial, to the fur trappers who came to explore and trade, to the pioneers who followed in their footsteps, every acre of the Omineca has a different story to tell.
